The story of Lyrical Miracles™
I became a Christian over 25 years ago, but the curve of my growth and maturity
as a Christian had remained relatively flat until roughly 1999, when, through
the encouragement of the Holy Spirit—by way of godly male role models at church,
the ministries emanating from WAWZ-FM Christian talk radio, Promise Keepers, and the
like—I made a decision to "turn away from the old" ways (admittedly a daily
challenge), seeking first His will in serving Him.
Then, one day, at about 5:00 a.m., toward
the end of a fitful, restless night of sleep, I lay praying to the Lord for
guidance in how to avoid an argument with a Christian brother in resolving an
awkward situation on a homesteading building project. I was fervently praying, "Please, Lord, show me what you want me to
do." The answer I received during those moments of total openness to Him was
much broader than the situation I thought I was praying about. It was, rather,
the literal answer to my question—a revelation of what God wants me to do to
serve Him: spread the Word through song. A new, pleasant and infectious melody
popped into my head, so vividly that I was compelled to get up and record it
into my hand-held mini-cassette recorder. Within a few hours the lyrics came
also, and thus my first song (and the first song on the CD), Bible 101 (But
Jesus), was conceived.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of
God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.
–Philippians 4:6-7

Over the handful of years since,
two dozen songs have come to me by similar circumstance, each with its own
story to tell of God’s work in our lives, each with a unique story behind its
creation (which I am always ready and willing to tell!) |
Ask and it will be
given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to
you.
